On February 24, 2007, the international BMX Flatland contest “Red Bull Circle of Balance” was held at Stellar Ball in Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan.

The event was joined by five Japanese athletes - including Ryoji "Yanmar" Yamamoto, current defending champion of the 2004 Contest in Germany - along with thirteen international riders from around the world, including very first champion Viki Gomez, Martti Kuoppa and Terry Adams. These world-class super star riders showcased their twisted, technically demanding moves to the beat of DJ Baku and DJ Hugabass, himself a passionate BMX Flatland rider.

The battle constituted a dream combination of renowned names - among them Alex Jumelin, Jesse Puente and York Uno - promising an inevitably high quality of competition. As anticipated, all pre-sale tickets and day tickets at the box office quickly sold out. The crowd of 1121 spectators could barely contain their excitement. As if feeling the heat from the crowd, the three athletes appeared tense, seemingly affecting their performance. Taking the crowd by surprise, Yosuke Uno unfortunately left the competition after the preliminary round, followed by Kotaro Tanaka, who lost in the first round.

Martti Kuoppa, Alex Jumelin, Terry Adams and Viki Gomez all advanced to the next rounds. Gomez, who had won the “reunion” match against his long-time rival and friend Kuoppa, continued on to the final round.

Meanwhile, Morizaki defeated Adams, who fought back with an incredible amount of concentration, showing a wide array of difficult tricks in a matter of seconds.
The final round was held between Gomez, who performed a great variety of tricks and moves, and VS Morizaki, who displayed speed as well as sharpness in his moves. However, luck was on the side of Gomez, who showcased stable and balanced skills. Gomez grabbed the trophy and at the end of the day stood as the 2007 champion.

Hiro and Yanmar are childhood friends, and joined the world of BMX together. As rivals and model athletes at the same time, they even practiced together until midnight every day at the same park.
Hiro, seeing Yanmar becoming the champion before him, did not waste time and upped his level of training, a decision ultimately rewarded by his tremendous performance at this year's event, which has become a turning point in expanding the horizons the Japanese BMX scene.
